A bonny evening for it
A train photo, so obviously some imperfections, but none the less a good image for my day.
This is the latest train I've ever taken up to Inverness, although there are a couple of later options, but they would mean a very late arrival in Tain. I couldn't get to the 16.33 LNER train as I had a meeting in the RSE building (RSE based meetings have bookended my working week in Edinburgh this week), but as it turned out, I got the better option. The LNER train was running a bit late when it arrived in Edinburgh and then it was further delayed and actually left the station after the 17.33 Scotrail train on which I was booked. It was eventually 91 minutes late into Inverness, long after we'd split the scene on the road back to Tain. I suppose the only plus side is that everyone would have been able to reclaim the costs of their tickets....
Anyway, the Scotrail train was very busy until Stirling with standing room only, but rapidly started to empty out afterwards. This one is a rather slow train (compared to the LNER train as timetabled, not as delivered yesterday), and relatively uncomfortable compared to the Azuma, but at least it got me there on time, for which I am thankful.
Back to Tain shortly after 10pm to see how the garden has progressed. Obviously not much change in four days, but apparently the fox gloves in the back bed had collapsed in the relatively high winds on Monday, and so Mr A has cleared them out, in preparation for some other plants coming in. The two plants we ordered online this week have already arrived and look extremely healthy and vigorous. They need to go in the ground today.
