Departure

It was a long day. Our flight from Milan was delayed, so we missed our onward connection in Amsterdam. More correctly we were able to connect with the flight, but when we were boarding, we were told that our booking had been cancelled, and we were rebooked on a later flight. This was because our luggage would not make it onto the original flight.

Our new flight was not scheduled to depart Amsterdam until 22:40. So we would have a wait of eight hours at Schiphol Airport. About four hours into the wait we were advised that our flight in the evening would be delayed, at first it was only 15 minutes, but became 30 minutes.

When we finally got on the bus to the aircraft, there was another delay as it was not ready for boarding. We finally got to Aberdeen about 10 minutes after midnight. It felt like a very long day. There was a further long wait for a taxi.
