Philosophy Friday
Today was wild. Wet. Windy. And wonderful.
It was one of our Wellness Walks: Big Day Out minibus trips—this time to Coniston—and the weather was truly vile. Horizontal rain, relentless wind, the kind of forecast that makes most people cancel.
But seven people turned up. Seven people living with low mental health, who didn’t let the conditions dictate their day. We walked for nearly three hours in the rain-soaked beauty of the Lake District.
And do you know what? No one complained. In fact, spirits were high. People helped each other over wet rocks and laughed when the wind nearly knocked us sideways. We shared stories, tea, and soggy sandwiches.
Because here's the truth: resilience isn't built on sunny days. It's built on days like this. On choosing to turn up when it would be easier to stay home. On saying yes to community, movement, and the healing power of wild places—even when they're cold and grey.
We walked through the storm. Together.
And sometimes, that's exactly what recovery looks like.
