…............Not the adventure we'd planned!!!
Today we had a plan. The plan, was to get the train from St Ives to Falmouth, get the ferry from Falmouth to St Mawes & back, and then get the train back from Falmouth to St Ives. It was going to be an adventure because I hardly ever go on trains and ferries. We were going with our friends, Diane & Mike.
Mmmmmm............... best laid plans and all that.
At 7.30am Mike messaged Ann & Diane and said, 'Live tracker is showing that the train from St Erth to Truro is cancelled and the train from Truro to Falmouth is cancelled.' We could have got the 10.03am train from St Ives to St Erth and sat on the platform with the hundreds of other people at St Erth before squashing onto a later train. What is it with trains? Why can they never run to their timetables? Grrrr.............
By this time I'd already had my morning walk and it was scorchio. Ann said, 'The later train will be absolutely mobbed and we probably won't even get a seat. I'll just drive us to Falmouth'. So that is what we did, but it meant that we missed out on half of our adventure and Ann couldn't have a glass of wine in St Mawes.
We still had a lovely day though. I was such a good girl on the ferry and made loads of new friends. Then we had a mooch around St Mawes & walked up to the Castle, lunch in the 'Rising Sun' where I got my own bowl of water and dog treats, a short play on the beach and then back on the ferry to Falmouth.
We were home by about 4.30ish which was good because it would have been later if we'd got the train. Though Ann would have had at least a couple of glasses of wine. Lol! However, by this time, Ann wasn't feeling that great so she had to have a lie down for 40 mins. Obv I had to have a lie down too because I haven't had any sleep time today.
She's still not feeling that great. She's had a really bad cough and sore throat for a couple of days but has just been struggling on. However, a friend from Edinburgh phoned and suggested she might have sunstroke???? Apparently people over 65 have to be careful in this heat!!! She hadn't even thought of that and she had taken me on a couple of long walks on Wed/Thurs. It's still scorchio on our sun terrace but there's no sign of Mr Sunshine. Perhaps we need a good thunderstorm to clear the air.
Ann's due back in work tomorrow morning and we want to go and watch the 'St Ives Biathalon'' tomorrow evening so it's going to be an early night to bed for both of us.
Toodles xxx
