Wild and wonderful

The mountainous landscape of this/these regions is stunning. A long round trip coach journey today; first a stop at Ravno where there was once a railway line all the way to Vienna.

Nearby are the Vjetrenica caves, only 7km of which are explored but the underground cave system is extensive. We had a guided tour of the first few chambers. Known as the windy cave, the hot and cold air meets and somehow causes a strong gust in the first few metres of the cave.

Our next stop was the most eastern town in the country, Trebinje, which is close to the border of Montenegro.

I enjoy hearing about the history of all these places but also today our guide was telling us what life was like as a child living through the war in the 1990’s.

It has been once again well into the 30’s and as seems to be the way of things here, we got back to Neum later than scheduled, so if you’ll excuse me I will catch up with journals tomorrow. Thank you for your hearts, stars and good wishes yesterday.
