Inside the Scottish Parliament

A very busy day in Edinburgh. The friend we are staying with had organised lots for us to do…first we had an excellent (free) tour in St Giles Cathedral. The guide was great and so informative about lots of the history of Scotland as well as the various parts of the cathedral constructed at different times. Well worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh.
Then to the castle…this was sooo crowded and I have been there before. We did a fairly Quick Look around and then walked down to the bottom of the Royal Mile to the Scottish Parliament. Parliament is not in session until September so we had another very good tour of the new building with lots of info about the architecture  and the Scottish political system.

In the evening we went to a notable pub/ restaurant in Morningside where our friend lives,  The Canny Man. The food was excellent the surrounding quirky and the waitress one of the best I’ve had in a long time.

Although we got some buses we also did lots of walking..at least 18,000 steps so feeling very weary.
