They don't like it hot

An unpleasantly hot windy day here. The sweet peas don't like the heat, the stems are shortening rapidly, flower size is reduced and lower leaves are starting to turn yellow. I had vaguely thought of entering some vases in the famous Wem sweet pea festival. Its the only competition that specialises in old fashioned sweet peas and has about 50 classes for them. Alas its not for another three weeks and I don't think mine will be worth entering by then.

The garden peas don't like the heat either. This morning we decided to harvest all our remaining main crop peas for the freezer, although we still have another late crop row to come.
