Bottle Brush

In the last week, my bottle brush shrub has been covered in these fab flower spikes, making it look very dramatic. I decided on a close up photo this year. This morning I was volunteering at Spout Hills, pulling bracken up from where it's not wanted. It was extremely hot and muggy walking into town to drop of some things at the charity shop on the way (btw, charity shops often welcome spare bubble wrap if you have any). Fortunately the sun then turned patchy and the wind got up whilst we were pulling the bracken. We only spent an hour, as we'd got most of it last month. Two of the male volunteers were taking some of the vegetation out of the smaller pond, one in waders and the other with over-trousers as it's a very mucky job. It was very muggy and hot walking back through town and getting some shopping. This afternoon I watched the ladies final at Eastbourne - a very nervy affair with a tight final set tie break. Well done to Maya Joint on just pinching the trophy - she probably didn't deserve it on the day, but her overall performance during the week was fab. Weybourne met office weather station said the highest temperature today was 30C at 4pm, with Weybourne being on the coast, I expect it reached 31C here.
