Au Revoir
I'm writing this from the Penzance to Paddington train (I shall be getting off in Exeter unless I fall asleep!).
This is Ziggy having his last run this year on a beach in Scilly. He looks like he's grinning but he's got some seaweed in his mouth.
The Scillonian was pretty full as today's flights from St Mary's were cancelled because it was foggy, so all the passengers were moved to the ferry. The ferry was scheduled to leave 3 hours earlier than normal because it's Mazey Day in Penzance and they want to get the quay cleared of passengers before the people celebrating Mazey Day are all in that area this evening.
I managed to walk from the Scillonian with Ziggy, my small suitcase, a backpack and a small bag and arrived in time to catch an earlier train. However the train was heaving and to upgrade to first class was going to cost about £70 so I decided to wait another hour and catch the train I had already got a first class ticket for and a reserved seat.
My extra is the yacht that was damaged on rocks (see my entry 21st June). They've started to strip some of the things from it as it's been written off by the insurance company and will need to be moved. The couple who owned it also lived on it, and it was their home, so it's very sad. I think they're Dutch and I read a very moving thank you message they had written to all the locals who had helped them when in need.
