California Life Guard
I have to give kudos to our life guards, guys and girls. They are saving hundreds or more each year from the strong currents and surf.
It has happened that people who were just standing on a rock were swept away and maybe buystander who wanted to rescue them were drowning as well. This does not happen every day but on days with a strong swell from a storm from Mexico.
There is one example, when we had a visitor from Germany. He was standing in shallow water and was waving to us, so we waved back. Then all of a sudden a life guard came to the rescue, there was an undertow and our friend could not get out of the water and the waves were crashing and pounding. On land he had water coming out of his nose and ears for hours and he thought he would die.
