The other wedding - Dunblane cathedral
Unexpectedly found myself a spectator at a wedding with a difference today in Dunblane.
(We came back late last night from Wales).
It was an American affair with many guests from LA, where the couple work, and guests included some Hollywood stars, or so I was told , and all staying at Gleneagles.
The bride’s father, an architect from Glasgow now living in America, chatted to us locals at the end, clearly relieved that the wedding ceremony was now over.
Most of the guests ( see extra) wore black or dark colours and the bridesmaids were all in dark navy. ( see extra)
Yes it was a very classy affair, not the least bit showy or glitzy. ( Unlike a certain other wedding taking place in Venice).
But black? I was among a group of older locals observing when one woman commented: “It looks like a funeral”.
We had expected pretty, colourful dresses, the reason we had stayed to watch. But then we are not part of the zeitgeist and fashion reflects the mood of the age.
