The Coat of Hopes
Phooee, yesterday was very, very hot. I went up on the cliff tops again hoping for some butterfly/moth sightings. What I did see as l looked down towards Kingsdown was a procession coming towards me led by a women carrying a banner. Following behind were a group of people, one wearing a beautiful tapestry coat, the others holding the trail of the coat - and singing. The coat, which is extraordinarily heavy, is made up of many small tapestry squares each sewn by someone depicting their hope for our future. The coat has been walked 1500 miles around Britain so far. We talked briefly, l was offered the chance to wear the coat and be sung to and then we went our own ways, them happily singing and me with a lighter step. I wish them well. They have a website www.coatofhopes.uk if you want to know more.
After this encounter l rushed over to Faversham to spend a leisurely lunch with friends, picked some beautiful red gooseberries and carried on with my day.
