Captain George Mainwaring

There was some army related stuff being set up in Southend High Street first thing, which looked suspiciously like another bunch of cosplayers rather than the real thing to me. This man seemed to be a Dad’s Army wannabe… which is something I never thought I’d see myself write but this world I live keeps on bamboozling me. A search of the internet when I got home uncovered that it was “Southend Armed Forces Day” so I feel fortunate to have got in and out before the thing started proper. I always find “authorities” are best kept, at least, at arms length but preferably not within a 2 mile radius of me :))

The guy in the extra seemed somewhat uptight to say the least… probably worried what to do with all the additional money our pusillanimous government has been forced to give him and his work mates.
