Procrastination

...as in putting off until tomorrow, the next day or when the prices come down, has its rewards!

There are many reasons - or excuses - for why it was almost the end of June and I had not yet purchased annuals for my garden. The desire was there, as that sea of green out there really did need a punch of colour, but alas, I had not yet managed to get around to doing anything about it...until today.

Obviously at this time of year, the garden centres are pretty much out of annuals, but there is one place that I know of - from other years of  procrastination - that has an amazing end-of-season sale! When others are clearing out and closing down their spring offerings sections, this place is bringing in plants - both annual and perennial - by the truckload. (maybe leftovers from those clearing-out places?)

Well, that plant sale was still on! I hadn't yet missed it! Prices were down by 66% and 74%....and still falling. As the days wear on, the prices usually drop even more, so if one can wait even longer, the bargains are even better!  (I have a whole garden of hostas to show for my willingness to wait!)

Anyway, today I didn't wait; there will be another trip north soon and I won't be here to go plant shopping! So, I splurged and came home with a whole trunk full of ready-made baskets of pinks, purples, whites and and a touch of red..Instant Colour! (extra)

Shopping for bargains can be exhausting, so it was another reading* afternoon - and for Maggie too. It had been cleaner day and Maggie always tires herself out running from room to room to avoid the vacuum cleaner! (extra) We both needed to take the afternoon off to recover...on the sofa.

* I actually did read - I have two library books that are due on Monday.
