Roses at last

The roses haven’t done well this year. I think they needed water when we were away, and of course the deer got the early buds.

Mr C has been busy tying up the sweet peas which takes ages and now he’s watering. I’ve completed and re-proofread the Algeria book then sat outside reading my book. I’m loving The Art of Losing by Alice Zeniter. It’s a novel but fact-based about the Algerian war of liberation and its impact on three generations of a family. It won lots of prized and was short-listed for the Prix Goncourt.

The Whitley Bay boys have had a grand day body boarding while #3 daughter took Ella and Nathaniel to the Hoppings. They went on some scary rides one of which said “This is a fast ride and cannot be stopped for cry babies or wimps. Watch before you come on!” It seems no time since Ella had to walk her brother down the steps of the Helter Skelter because he got too scared to do it. They went to David Lloyd pool to cool off after. They are very lucky children. We couldn’t afford to take ours to that though they did get a seaside holiday.
