RSPB Loch Lomond

We had a lovely morning at RSPB Loch Lomond, by far the most exciting we’ve ever had there. Started off in the orchid meadow with several varieties of orchid (one in extra) and many small brown butterflies, then up onto the boardwalk with sightings of Reed buntings and Long Tailed Tits. Into the trees we came across two beautiful red squirrels and watched them for ages, then spotted a Jay on the fence. On the way back I spotted a juvenile cuckoo on the fence!! Sadly my camera (or more likely me) could not get focused on the cuckoo as there was a lot of foliage in front of it. It sat there for at least five minutes and I stood and cursed for the whole time but it was great to see despite not having the photo to prove it.
