Starlings at the beach

Cycleride first thing. Strong West wind; went to Portobello via the Meadows and the Innocent tunnel. Cortado at Crumbs. These starlings were begging from the people who had sausages in brown rolls.

Back along the seafront; saw a small flotilla of eider ducks in the distance, and quite a lot of gulls near Seafield. In by the Restalrig path and up Leith Walk.

In the afternoon there was the last of the season's garden parties in the East garden - this time for the street association. About 60 people came, which is a good number, though they were less sociable than the garden parties for the gardens. We talked to various neighbours as usual. A delivery came in conveniently shortly after we got back indoors. A fine afternoon, 23C, hazy cloud and the wind had dropped. Warm enough that I actually wore a dress to the party, which hasn't happened since we moved from California.
