Small Skipper or Essex Skipper?

Both my ID apps are saying that this is an Essex Skipper, but I'm not so sure. I think it might just be the light on the antennae that is a bit dull and making them look darker. Does anyone know for sure? I've another angle of the same butterfly in extras that is also coming up as Essex Skipper but again I'm not convinced. 

I popped over to Clock Face Country Park for the first time this year quite early this morning to see what butterflies were about. Answer - Whites - all three, Gatekeeper, Meadow Brown and this skipper. No blues which I was disappointed by and unfortunately, plenty of biting insects - most likely horseflies. I didn't stay all that long after I received at least 3 nips in quick succession from the little sods! 
Popped into the BH to do a stocktake and to feed the fish, and then had an afternoon watching the tennis.
