Large yellow sedge
It was warm today, and I collected three frames of honey, thank you bees! It’s a delicate light floral taste, presumably mixed meadow flowers and some blackberry.
We took the moth traps to Roudsea this evening, still 20C at 8pm so Rob is hoping for a bumper collection! A walk round the boardwalk to see the Osprey, on guard at the edge of the nest so all is well there. And we passed the Carex flava, or Large yellow sedge. This is the only UK population so a treat to see it.
When we arrived home I noticed that the raspberries had ripened up during the heat of the day so some dusk harvesting was required! I am really pleased with the amount of berries we have had, it was definitely worth netting them to keep those pesky blackbirds out!
