Bonxies

Also known as great skuas, Stercorarius skua. These two are on the shore of The Choin, which is a sort of lagoon (at low tide) of Marwick. They are eating the carcase of a juvenile shelduck, which they are quite capable of having killed. The bonxies tend to be unpopular with locals, but I like them. They will leave Orkney soon to spend the winter far, far from land out on the south Atlantic Ocean.
