1867: Canada Day
Quote Of The Day
"When I was crossing the border into Canada they asked if I had any firearms with me. I said, "Well, what do you need?"
(Steven Wright)
Starting from next week I shall work two weeks of summer school, taking over from Mr. Inter who is now teaching the second of the first two weeks. I wanted to go in so that I could observe the routines he has established so that my transition will be as smooth as possible for the children. I also wanted to find out the location of the swimming pool that we will be taking the children to twice a week. That's where this photograph was taken.
It was lovely to be back in the classroom. They seem to be a delightful bunch of children, and the classroom assistant is super cheerful and happy. I'm sure we'll all have a great time.
The two young ladies are sisters, both former pupils of mine. They are both delightful; polite, caring and sweet-natured. They have returned to work as volunteer assistants in the summer school, so I look forward to working with them again next week. Mr. Inter will pop in next week as well before he leaves for Thailand to get married and start a new life there. He has been working at this school almost as long as I have, and I will miss him immensely; a more hard working (especially when it comes to fixing machines or furniture), polite, caring and humble man you couldn't hope to meet. I think you might be able to guess his nationality.
Let me give you a hint.
Magnum, P.I.
