Battersea
I had a day out with my sister in London.
Having travelled from opposite sides of London we successfully met up in Victoria Railway Station and walked to the Saatchi Gallery, via a coffee shop ... well we don't meet up and chat that often! The gallery was hosting the RHS Botanical Art and Photography exhibition which leaned to both our shared interests and hobbies. H. is currently doing a botanical art course using colour pencils so was interested in the art which were of an extremely high standard, but we both agreed the photos were exceptional with many, especially the "best in show", looking like top notch botanical paintings in their own right.
It was then time to grab some lunch and more gossip sitting in the shade of trees around a nicely set out open space in front of the gallery. We then braved the heat and headed to Battersea Park which neither of us could remember visiting before. The park was a lovely oasis from the high level of development by the old Battersea Power Station, and there were plenty of shady spots around the central lake and ponds, plus opportunities for some nature photos (extras).
There was just time for another cup of coffee overlooking the lake before heading back to Victoria, with a few more photos of the river and power station as we crossed the by now extremely hot Battersea Bridge, before going our separate ways and heading home.
It had been a good day.
