Above Haweswater
Back up in the hills above Haweswater bagging more Birketts. (Hills over 1000ft in the Lakes). The usual mix of indistinct paths, sometimes none at all, bog, biting insects and many references to the map. Ferns were shoulder high at some areas, in a few weeks time this trek would have been impossible.
5 peaks were bagged including 2 which weren't actually Birketts, this lead to Jess having a temporary loss of enthusiasm and a wobbly bottom lip at one point :-)
The blip is from a nameless peak but someone thought it was worth building a nice cairn on so I thought it was worth the battle to get there..
In extras a Golden Ringed Dragonfly, we crossed a small beck and there were a number of them cruising up and down.. Check the angle of the wings ! I read that they have independent control of their 4 wings, incredible acrobats in flight.
Second extra a Large Green Fritillary which despite the name is neither large or green ?
