Spotted...

...a dead crow in my garden... 

It was whole and looked like a sudden death.  It hadn't been attacked by anything.  I think this was it's mate.  It was hovering around...  

Then on Sunday as I was packing the car the mate was sitting on my driveway and I got really close to it and it didn't fly away.  It looked really unwell.  I tried to call SSPCA but couldn't get through and I reported it to DEFRA in case of avian flu...  But the response I got was that they would unlikely come and retrieve it.  When I went in to get the rest of my things it was gone when I came out.  My neighbour from along the street said he had seen it and his dog had gotten really close.  It was on a lead so thankfully didn't get it but my neighbour wonders if it was poison.  

I reported it to the Council before I left but I don't think they will do anything.  I keep wondering what happened to the crow...  I hope it wasn't poisoned!
