Insect Week - Day 5

A trip to Trentham meant I got to concentrate on my photography while my other half went for a walk over in the Kings Wood behind the gardens.

Looking for damsels by the lake side I spotted this striking creature - a Scarlet Tiger moth. Not one I've seen before. They're quite easy to spot as they're about an inch long and black with cream and white spots. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the "scarlet" underwings.

We bought a picnic lunch and sat in the gardens to eat it. And then popped into the garden centre for compost and a couple of plants.
