Dancing dressmaker

I can’t really believe that I’ve finally finished it. 

It’s been quite a while in the making, but all my faffing about to get it just right has paid off and I’m thrilled to bits. I’m pleased that I’ve managed to print off a PDF pattern for the first time, and also that I managed to alter the pattern so that it was exactly what I wanted. 

The neckline is slightly lower to accommodate a necklace, there are pockets in the side seams, and an invisible zip at the back instead of a keyhole opening, which makes it easier to slip on and off. The bodice is lined instead of faced, too. All in all I was dancing around in it when I tried it on after it was finished, because it fitted well and was so comfortable. The lovely Smithers was very encouraging about my handiwork too, which is kind of him.

Now to clear up all my dressmaking mess, and get ready for T’s brother and girlfriend, who are coming from Turkey on Friday for a five day visit to London and are staying here with us.
