I've been a bit lax with kestrel-hunting this year. At 8:30 pm, I realised I hadn't taken a single photo, so I fished out the long lens and popped out to the chateau. Yay, a kestrel, perching in the usual place. Unfortunately, exactly the wrong place as far as the sun was concerned, and as usual it only gave me a minute before flying off. So this is all I have.
Another nice swim this morning ... the water has gone up to 29C since yesterday, same temperature as the air! It hasn't been quite as hot as yesterday, but there's no sign of the forecast rain. S bought a kilo of cherries at the market, and I spent a hot hour in the kitchen this afternoon stoning them and making compote. I could have done without it boiling over all over the hob while my back was turned.
I finished The Corner that Held Them, and spent ages writing a rambling review. It's definitely going to be one of my books of the year. Now I must start my book group doorstop, The Silver Darlings.
