Peninsula Light

Part of a small motor being checked to see if it's possible to repair. When I check online a short while later, and find that the Asda blender it's in currently costs £12, I stop and advise their department buys a new one!

The in-focus stator (stationary) winding looks fine - shiny lacquered copper, whereas shifting the focus to the rotor (rotating) winding in the extra, it's very much duller and not at all good. Didn't smell nice either.

The lacquer used on such windings is fairly inert and harmless, when all's well. Heat it up or burn it, that changes to deadly toxic. A very distinctive smell that you definitely don't want to take a good sniff of, as cyanide fumes are not good for you...
