Our traditional visit to Helsinki to see the Helsinki Biennial art exhibition in Vallisaari, an island outside of the city. The Island was closed to the public for several decades because the island belonged to the Finnish Defence Forces.
The art there was interesting as always, but I also found the inner walls of the old barracks especially picturesque.
We stayed at hotel Haven as usual because we love the high quality of the rooms and especially their excellent breakfast in the second oldest stone building in Helsinki.
Visited Ateneum the next day to see their their permanent collection as well as a.good exhibition Rajojen rikkojat - or female artists in the Nordic countries breaking boundaries from the 18th century to the 20th century.
