Derelict Poppies

I took this photo on the way to St Luke’s with the DerelictWeek challenge in mind. As it is, I’ve got way behind with blipping again this week so I’ll be lucky if Marlieske sees it in time! Not to worry if not :-)

It was another sweltering day, and the Rector allowed the choir to leave off their long red robes because of the stifling heat. Myself, Harold and Martin (acolytes and crucifer) were not let off the hook as part of the sanctuary team at the altar, so we perspired gently in our full-length polyester albs for the next hour or so as we distributed the wine and at long last processed out again.

I tried to read my book club novel after lunch, but as I get older I cope less and less well with the sticky weather and it actually makes me feel quite unwell these days. I fell asleep for most of the afternoon.
