View with cakes
Lakeland for a few purchases . . . and brunch. We now have it organised - 11am so G can have his full English from the Breakfast Menu and I can access the Lunch menu for the wonderful cheese and chive soufflé. And we beat the queues.
Then we headed south to Grasmere, finding the roads surprisingly quiet. Plenty of parking spaces in Grasmere, also surprising. We went to the Heaton Cooper Studio (I had not realised that they have an art provisions section with a great selection of paints and pencils and Khadi Paper etc.) to view an Alan Stones exhibition. These local paintings are impressive but very different from the prints that we have bought from him in the past. To get to the gallery required going through the very busy cafe and of course we could not pass the cakes . . .
. . . here is the view from where we were sitting outside with our cakes and coffee. A fine view of hills (there were some dark clouds) and the lovely Bookshop (where a book had been bought). And the roof of Barneys where two jigsaws were to be bought before we set off for home.
