Not every day

Stripes - and security

Off to meet older sister out of school. We all went because parents - and indeed grandparents - were invited to an informal tour of the school. Those of us whose primary school days were in the 1950s were taken aback by the colourful displays and messages that covered every inch of every classroom - almost a sensory overload. (Pleasing to see too that so much of it was in Welsh.)

A's carefree attitude and sense of security is also in startling contrast to the lives of so many children who cannpt count on their parents, their schools, or even the sky above them, to keep them safe.
