Living my dream

Damage (and neglected)

The rhubarb has taken a back seat this year. Other fruit has fulfilled my needs, and more. When I went round the back of the garage today to check on the crops there - skerrit, asparagus, spuds, and the rhubarb - I was alarmed to see how neglected it has become.

And I hadn't noticed until now that the rhubarb leaves have been eaten - presumably by a possum. No wonder the chunk of apple in the Timms Trap hasn't attracted any possums recently: there is plenty of food elsewhere!

So tidying the rhubarb has gone onto tomorrow's list. I may cover it with a bucket to prevent more possum damage, and to give me some forced stalks, which is always the most delicious early crop.

The new neighbours have begun to move themselves in over the road. I have heard barely a peep out of them. Every curtain has been firmly closed ever since they entered the house yesterday lunchtime. They obviously value their privacy.
