Thistle Friday

Spotted on our morning walk with Biskit.  There used to be three tall thistles here, a good two metres high each, I think with a single very large flower on top.  Magnificent beasts with a single thick main stem.  I never did get to ask the houseowner what they were (on the edge of his property and looked as if they had been planted) but they disappeared a couple of years ago. 
 
I have searched the internet but can’t find them.  At first I thought this was one recovering, but on closer inspection I think it’s just one of our common invaders. 
 
Out very early again this morning, and beat the sun.  It’s been a pleasant day with more little jobs out of the way, and an hour or so snoozing in the hammock, which was company for Biskit as he doesn’t like being in the house with the wind making strange noises all around the place.
