Bloody Nightmare
It all started so well, the day. Looking forward to heading down on the Trans Penine from Glasgow Central at 4:11 to Liverpool Lime Street.
Then I read a notification that all trains south of Glasgow central were cancelled due to a tree falling on The lines at Beattock!
S and I had a discussion for various alternatives but the one we went with was him driving us to Carlisle! We were initially told that our train we would be getting would be there but then the very helpful worker at Carlisle told us that was also cancelled and to get on the 3:30 to Preston then 40 mins wait before a train to Liverpool Lime Street.
Also, it was boiling! Glad I had my dress on.
I was so pleased that S offered to drive us. I had visions of the holiday being delayed a day and the hotel was non refundable so would lose the Monday night. I owe him big time!
He was staying g overnight at his Dad in Glasgow so didn’t have all the way to Perth thankfully.
We were the only ones on the first class bit section due to the changes to the services. We had some hot food.
Although Trans Penine is not a patch on LNER.
We got a fab deal for the journey 100 return.
We arrived a Lime Street and ordered an Uber to the Hotel.
Check in to the Titanic Hotel. Our room is HUGE!! 76sq m with sofa, armchair and also a huge bathroom with a bath and double sinks.
We took a walk round the canal locks nearby and watched around d 10 young lads leap into the canal to cool off. It’s what you hear on the news. Young lad drowning in water in heatwaves.
