Only a rose

Trying out a new compact camera in the garden of the flat where I'm staying.  Even if I'm not doing "proper" photography I prefer a camera to a mobile phone. Particularly as my phone has an annoying habit of switching itself off when I'm out walking. Anyone else had that and found a solution?

I've only seen a few birds in the garden: too many cats.  I must confess that I chased cats out of my old garden because I much preferred birds.
