Carolina Ruellia
A wild pansy, Ruellia Caroliniensis. There's quite a lot of it growing in the hayfield that I walk along the edge of every morning. That said, The Husband said he thinks he heard a tractor up there in the middle of the day today, so maybe they are finally cutting the hay. It's very late to be cutting hay - but then again, it's better from a standpoint of the meadowlarks that nest in the field, so it's actually a good thing. But these wild pansies will have been mowed down. I expect they'll pop back up though.
