Fireworks

"A republic, if you can keep it."

--Benjamin Franklin's response to Elizabeth Willing Powel's question: "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?"

I was not feeling at all patriotic, but we went to the fireworks anyway, since it's 30 seconds from the house. We ended up being able to see all the displays from Virginia Beach, Hampton, and Newport News too. It was fun, but I can't help dwelling on what we're losing day by day.
