Flying
After all the excitement of the new motorbike finally arriving yesterday, a week later than originally planned, it has of course poured with rain most of the day. Still, it gave me a chance to remove the dead insects from yesterday's inaugural 100 mile ride.
Once upon a time, back in the early 80's, when I first started riding a motorbike, even a short trip in early July would see your bike and helmet visor coated in a significant amount of dead insects. But nowadays there are hardly any in comparison, even after a day on the machine.
Before you pull me up on it, I am only too aware that complaining about the loss of insect life doesn't sit well with my having just acquired a petrol driven machine, but would suggest that the damage is probably more properly attributable to farming practices and the extensive use of pesticides.
Be that as it may, now that the rain has finally stopped, at the end of the afternoon, here is one insect that managed to get away. :-). [It really does look better large]
