Much better day today… mostly

Having had a pretty surreal day yesterday, I woke up feeling much better (if not too refreshed) and managed to get down to some work again. I sent some off to the proofer a couple of days ago and was glad to get the text back, even if there was a lot more mark-up on it than my ego likes. Still, it shows that (a) she is taking it seriously and (b) I wasn’t concentrating properly. Hopefully today’s batch will be better received.
 
I feel a little guilty about the self-indulgence of yesterday’s post. Oh well. It did affect me, and that is what this is for.
 
Having spent most of the morning working, I went downstairs and made cheese-on-toast for everyone’s (late) lunch. The I dragged Mrs. Ottawacker and Ottawacker Jr. out. They had already been out – we cancelled the morning tennis game because we were still waiting for the drive sealer people to come around and seal the drive. They have had to postpone till Monday though – yesterday’s storms put paid to their carefully constructed schedule. So, we went for a drive and ended up at… the airport. Ottawacker Jr. spent a happy 45 minutes watching planes land and take off while Mrs. Ottawacker and I sat in the car and chatted. As I have said before, she really is a nice person and I must get to spend some time with her one day.
 
Home to laundry. Ah! The endless joys of parenthood. Around 5, our neighbour Colin came round to wipe Mrs. Ottawacker’s iPhone, which had been passed on to her by Mitch a while back. Amazing how quick some things are when you know what you are doing. Then he left, with a Tupperware box of apple muffins that Ottawacker Jr. had made.
 
An hour or so later, I got a text from his wife saying “thank you for the muffins” but Colin wasn’t unfortunately able have any as he had been rushed to hospital and was in the process of having his gall bladder removed. It was another Jota moment: I’d only seen him an hour before – and had offered him a Ricard as an apéritif while he was working. Thankfully, the operation was a success and he is due out very soon. But still, some weird karma shit following me around these days.
