Living Up to Its Name
Hubby‘s first job was to take our trash and recycling to the convenience center. I fed the birds, repotted a succulent and made breakfast. This bee balm grows all through the front garden. Bees, butterflies and hummers love it. My mother slept in for hours. I had breakfast on the front porch and enjoyed some solitary time. You have probably guessed I like things neat and orderly. Returning from camping with so many tubs to come in out of the weather, moving Momma in to our master bedroom unexpectedly and us upstairs created clutter that has driven me nuts. I can happily say it is all put away neatly and I can breathe again. Hubby is working on a big house project. We have a gap between our house bricks and our patio cement. The”caulk” has shrunk and left a gap in places. He is taking the old silicone(?) out, cleaning the area and replacing it. Not a fun job when it’s 90°F+ outside. My sister and BIL stopped by to work on the toilet, again- we think it is possessed. He has replaced pieces and parts, even the entire tank and the water still continuously runs from the tank into the bowl. I hope this last repair fixes it. We are installing a bidet in the master bath for my mother. I had thought about getting one anyway. I think it is a good investment for elderly folks. Hubby picked it up when he shopped sales at the grocery store. He and our BIL will install it. I made pumpkin bread and used yellow squash instead of zucchini. It was 13” long when I found it in the garden, too hard for sautéing. Everyone tried a slice of the bread and agreed it was quite tasty and moist. I made Momma and me lunch while hubby was shopping. He grabbed a quick bite when he got back. Brooklyn and her new boyfriend made Momma a coconut cake. I tried to bid on one last week but completely forgot the auction the second/last day. Brook is becoming the family baker. We went to 5:00 pm Mass and then picked up the cake. Hubby and Momma will sample it with ice cream later tonight. Hoping you get a special treat this weekend. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “Butterfly leads my eye to other marvels. Marigold laughs, seeing my interest. I walk to the bee balm and visit with the bumblers They are in a frenzy, competing for pollen.” - Caren Krutsinger
