Burntcoat Head

We had a beautiful day for our trip to Truro and to Burntcoat Head. Mostly sunny, a nice breeze sometimes, no humidity, and the temperature was around 22 - 24 C.

The main photo is Flowerpot Island at Burntcoat. The collage, clockwise from top left - the lighthouse, now a gift shot, at Burntcoat, one of the caves, a view of Flowerpot Island from the top of the steps, and Victoria Park.

Some of us walked up as far as the waterfalls at Victoria Park, but there is very little water there in the summer. We sat around, chatted and at our lunch at Victoria Park. We arrived at Burntcoat about 20 minutes before our tour was due to start. The area is being promoted for tourism. The park has gone from having 10,000 visitors in 2015 to 60,000 last year, and they expect to have more than 100,000 this year.

I have been to Burntcoat a couple of times in the past. Once I did go down to the ocean floor, but did not go far. Today was an opportunity to explore further.

It was also an opportunity to get to know more of the group members. I traveled with 2 other women. One of them I had met in passing, the other one is new to the group. When Stephen started the group 2 years ago, he saw a lot of seniors looking for people to travel with and attend events. This group has grown beyond what he thought it would. We torment his, tell him that he has a harem. Today it was 7 women and 1 man(Stephen). He loves it, and we appreciate all that he does to keep the group growing.
