Aftermath

Up at 5 am to get to Leicester General Hospital in time for Len's operation. We were able to park within 50 m of the entrance as a result but it was a long way to the Theatre Arrivals Area and Len had a heavy bag, and I, as you know, don't walk well. Luckily, an orderly found us and took us, me riding in a wheelchair with Len's bag hanging at the back.

Refurbishment was taking place so our route took us through the original part of the hospital, palatially Edwardian.

We were admitted to a side room where Len was told he was first on the operating list. Obs, nurse, doctor, surgical stockings, anaesthetist and surgeon followed. He went down to theatre shortly before 9.30 am.

I drove back to George's where I stayed for most of the day just in case Len  was to be discharged. I did call in at the nearby Tesco Express to buy refreshments.

Basil and I went home early evening, thoroughly tired. This is the settee where Len had abandoned birthday cards and presents the night before.
