A daily habit

Not the route I intended to take

The night train to Berlin turned out to be disrupted. A battle tank, of all things, had opened its hatch by mistake during rail transport, and tore down the overhead power line. In a bad way, in a bad place.

My train, scheduled to pass that precise location, got stuck before we could even enter Germany.

After many hours, there were replacement buses to Flensburg where, we were told, there would be buses provided by DB. There were not. Instead, there were other travellers. Some had waited five hours without being put on a bus.

The one functional train line going further into Germany would take me across a bridge, which is being repaired. Trains are instead connected by walking across that bridge.

And that… is how I found myself crossing the Lindaunis Schleibrücke, on foot, as part of my night-train journey.

As far as crazy stories go, this is one to remember.
