What It Says On The Tin…

… We have never (oop North) had a crop of strawberries like this.
Himself tells me he has recently read an article about what a great year it is for flavoursome strawberries. (Something about rain and sun at the exactly perfect moments this year?). Ours are certainly lovely anyway.

I’ve become a bit precious about strawberries, having read (illustrated too, necessitating impression of The Scream) that tiny little grubs can teem (yes, ‘teem’) out of the little ‘pores’.

Lovely :-/

(I’m very impressionable).

Nevertheless I did have a bowl of these yesterday.
My Mother used to say, ‘you have to eat a peck of dirt before you die’.
She didn’t mention grubs but I expect the same applies?
(Bless Mothers!).

I popped out earlier to help a neighbouring child to retrieve a ball from our bushes. I was repaid by being bitten to smithereens on my face and arms (not by the child, who is utterly delightful).
Antihistamine cream R Us :-)

The baby Robin is now sporting the beginnings of a beautiful red breast.
Awww, don’t the children grow up quickly these days?
