Soap box derby, Bideford
What a hoot of a day.
Three of us from the camera club who'd not been to watch this event (5 years old now I gather) went over to Bideford to see it. Got there early hoping to get a decent space by one of the 'jumps', which we did after the obligatory coffee. There were two runs for each soapbox; one before lunch and one after. There were about 30 odd soapboxes I think so the first run took about an hour and a half. Huge fun watching them roll down the hill, through the 'chicanes' of hay bales and negotiate a couple of corners safely (or not). Their team ran after them to give hefty pushes if they stopped but 99% of them were way ahead of their support.
I have included 4 of those I managed to get 'flying'.
A fun day and again very happy that the predicted rain stayed away.
