Verbena Blues

Polyommatus icarus

The verbena is proving popular with the butterflies.

This is a male common blue butterfly. There were a few around today and I saw females too, which have only a dusting of blue on their wings.

I don't know why they have the name 'icarus' who flew too close to the sun in Greek mythology, but this one seemed to keep his distance. The flower was enough excitement for him.
