Look at the size of that flower!
I had a very nice birthday. It started with my usual trip to the tower for some ringing (there was a bit of drizzle on the way so I got a bit damp). It was boiling hot up the tower despite that, even with the window open for a breeze.
After that it was time for a cuppa and a few rounds of UNO and then we headed out to lunch where I enjoyed a nice peppercorn steak.
After a little rest at home I persuaded Ian out for a birthday walk. We first checked out the route to a new women only gym that has opened near me.

I liked the sound of it but was worried it might be down a really narrow track but actually the route in is rather lovely and tree lined (extra).
I will visit properly tomorrow to check it all out and if all looks good I will switch to that from the Uni gym which I haven’t really enjoyed too much. That is really big, noisy and busy and this looks much more chill!
After that we headed to Killerton for a nice plod to make sure we got the 10k steps in. I spotted this fabulous cartoon face in a poor old tree (extra). We got very hot as we were heading uphill for lots of the route so stopped off in the cafe in the hope of a nice cooling drink but it was very uninspiring so we abandoned that plan and came home instead.
Bobbie arrived soon after so we lit up my birthday cake. It was another tiny version with a huge candle. It was just enough for Leo, Bobbie, Ian and Dad to share. I don’t like chocolate cake but got this one since I knew the gang would polish it off in a sitting! I need to get them all to love my favourite fruit cake but they are very resistant!
Now I am planning an early night with some Miss Marple to entertain me before I drift off, with the lovely thought that there is no work for me in the morning!
Ian is off to Surrey and Leo and Bobbie are off to Exmouth tomorrow so it’ll be just me, mum and dad for a few days. It is going to get very hot again later in the week so I am going to make the most of outdoor plodding opportunities on Monday/Tuesday in case I have to hibernate for the rest of the week!
