Turning Thirty

Of course the absolute annual birthday post is upon us and this year is no different, except it’s a big birthday. Without further ado here’s 30 things I’ve learned in 30 years.

1. I will always be poor. No matter how much I earn or money I have, I will spend it all.
2. I really am partial to smoking when I’m drunk but I absolutely hate smoking. Therefore I have bought a 0% nicotine vape.
3. Men are trash. (Besides lee but he is aware that by proxy he’s part of the trash)
4. I just love doner kebabs and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
5. There’s no point being on a diet because it’s shit and food is so nice.
6. Going on from that, you’ll never look the same as you did 10 years ago so just let go of that pipe dream.
7. I love an early night.
8. I hate clubs but I do enjoy live music or even a bar with music playing.
9. I do not understand Microsoft excel and I never will.
10. Chat GPT is actually a god send and I wish I had it years ago.
11. Sometimes you meet people and you’re friends but it’s just because you spend all the time together.
12. Similar vibes, when people leave work and say they will come in and see you, they never do.
13. When joining the world of optics, I never knew the possibility of what I could learn and even the fact I had the capability to learn.
14. Uni is honestly a waste of time in terms of getting you a better job. It counts for nada.
15. Your family are much more important and vital when you’re older.
16. Having a car is absolutely life changing! Even if you’re not the one who drives.
17. Free will is incredible and you can literally (kinda) do whatever you want. Like my rekindling of my love for Nickleback. No shame here.
18. Tattoos are addictive and I totally get why people are covered.
19. Feel the fear and do it anyways. It’s awful to be scared but it’s incredible to see what can happen on the other side.
20. Don’t get bogged down on the news, it’s mostly lies.
21. Trust absolutely no one.
22. The motorway is a weird place where it’s like a community of drivers and they all have secret driver languages.
23. No one, and I cannot stress this enough, gives a shit about what you look like.
24. Mistakes will happen and you will think about them at night and want to be sick at your own embarrassment. Everyone does it.
25. Having someone to love and who loves you is simply the best thing ever.
26. I might want kids and I might not want kids and it doesn’t matter either way, and don’t think you have to conform to what everyone else is doing.
27. You can absolutely, get rid of people in your life that do not support, love or appreciate you.
28. The company you work for will never ever care about you, you are just a number as is everyone else.
29. I freaking love squishmallows and I must have nearly a hundred
30. Lastly, no matter the situation, it really is what you make of it .
