Proof of cat

I didn't dare post about this until it was in the bag, so to speak. Say hello to Matisse, two months old, new member of the household. We gave up on the cat shelters after two totally obnoxious responses, and activated local networks. The daughter of one of my gym friends turned out to have a cat who had had four kittens. We made contact and went to see her at the end of last week. There were only two left by then: a black girl, and a black and white boy. We hadn't intended to have a boy, or indeed another black (and white) cat. But there you go. His sister was already half spoken for and very timid while he was quite bold and keen to get to know us.

We'd arranged to pick him up this afternoon -- by the time we set off, we found ourselves driving towards yet another huge pall of smoke. Devastatingly, it's been a very windy day and as of the last update the fire was out of control -- but blowing away from us. So we arrived safely at M-C's house.

Matisse yelled furiously on the way home, until I took him out of the cat carrier and put him on my lap. At home, I let him out of the carrier, and he shot under the nearest cupboard, emerged two minutes later, had a good explore, and within ten minutes was purring and asking for head bumps. He's done more exploring, had a bit of a play, purred a lot more, had something to eat, and curled up between us on the sofa for a sleep. He is so adorable! The cute nose splodge. The white whiskers. The socks. Sorry, I'll stop now. I'll need to train him to be a bit more cooperative photo wise.

I managed to fit in a quick, breezy swim this morning before going to Lagrasse for the lunchtime concert. Jodyline Gallavardin was very good -- a more adventurous programme than yesterday featuring Scriabin and lesser known Russian composers. A couple of extras.

So, a very good day!
